After almost two years on the road in Europe, America and Japan, I am happy to announce that all filming for the Goto Izumi documentary is now done!

Ahead lies the work of putting the film together. I want to convey what a fun, pleasant and surprising acquaintance Izumi is.

The film will be a carnival-esque rollercoaster of a road movie, taking us through countries and years at exhilarating speed, but also pausing at times to delve deeper.

It is important for me to show what a thoughtful and kind person Izumi is, as well as her unique way of combining an overwhelming sense of childlike curiosity and discovery with faultless professionalism and showmanship.

Not least is she a superb musician and songwriter, and the film will, I hope give viewers a taste of her talent.

Finally, but not least I will endeavour to put as much of all the wonderful people we have met along our journeys.

As always, when you make a documentary, you never really know how it will be until the final cut. Not everyone will make it into the film, but that doesn’t mean anyone is forgotten.

A big thanks goes out to everyone who helped us on our way, people we stayed with, people who arranged things for us, people whose places we played, whose cars we rode, whose breakfast we ate. People who let us into our lives.

People in Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Denmark, Canada, the US and Japan.

Thank you all so much! None of this could have happened without you!

I am aiming to have the film ready by spring 2013.
